I want to fill you in on a little secret – postpartum bladder control problems don’t have to be an issue for us moms! Say what?!?!?! I know, everyone and everything tells us differently… If it’s even talked about at all. We get together with our mom friends and it seems like each and every one of us has a story about how we laughed or sneezed without crossing our legs and, well, you can easily imagine what happened. And heaven forbid any of us try to do a jumping jack!
At my last lady doctor visit, I brought up my pee problem with my OBGYN, assuming she’d say the same thing all my friends say – it’s inevitable after having kids. Surprisingly, she told me there was absolutely no reason I should have to deal with bladder control problems for the rest of my life. She set me up with a physical therapist who helped me learn to utilize my pelvic floor muscles properly to begin strengthening them. She taught me some great pelvic floor exercises that I did without fail for months.
I was noticing slow, SLOW changes and knew it was going to be a long road ahead but then I heard about InControl Medical and the Apex device. As their website describes it,
Apex is a medical device that cures stress urinary incontinence. Stress urinary incontinence is any bladder leakage you may have when you laugh, sneeze, cough or exercise and is primarily caused by weak pelvic floor muscles.
Apex strengthens pelvic floor muscles (Kegels) quickly and efficiently in the privacy of your home, curing stress incontinence. Strong, healthy pelvic floor muscles provide many other benefits such as keeping your pelvic organs in place, prevention of bladder leakage, and improvement with intimacy for both you and your partner.
I’ll be the first to say that I was totally skeptical. A device that is supposed to be an automatic kegel exerciser? This device basically would answer the question of how to heal your pelvic floor. It sounded way too good to be true. Even so, I was game to try it. It is an FDA cleared medical device and, worst case scenario, if it didn’t help, all I did was waste my time.
But let me tell you, this device was not a waste of time!
You guys, the Apex automatic kegel exerciser is a total game changer and I’m not one to say that lightly! I’ve been using it for about a month now and I’m no longer wearing panty liners every day! Yes, I’m serious! I used to have to wear at least one panty liner a day and sometimes even had to change it out and now I’m no longer wearing any. That’s how much it helped! No, I’m not completely leak free but I know that day coming soon.
I honestly noticed a difference within a week of using the device for ten minutes a day. This skeptical girl’s mind was changed!
So how does the Apex work? This automatic kegel exerciser does just that – it contracts your muscles and forces them to do intense kegels over and over and over. While your body is doing your pelvic floor exercises for ten minutes straight, all you feel is a little tightening and a little tingling. I’m basically just chalking it all up to magic.
As you’ll see if you browse Pour Moi’s website, there are two different devices and I’ve been using the Apex. I chose that over the Intensity device because, between the two, it is the one that is a true medical device that is cleared by the FDA. The Intensity is basically the Apex with more of a kick *cough*sexually*cough*. Since I wanted to focus on the medical side of things and don’t need that kind of help in the sexual department thankyouverymuch I didn’t go with it. Check out the website to decide which device would be right for you. Trust me, you don’t want to wait! Why deal with bladder control problems for even one more day?
